Description island ArranThe inhabited large island of Arran (local name Eilean Arainn) is part of (the island group) islands in Firth of Clyde and is located in the country of Great Britain , Western Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 5 km. The surface-area of the island is 431.6 km2 and is therefore 1.1 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Firth of Clyde and the total coastal length is about 98 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 32 km by 16 km (maximum width). The island is North - South oriented. The highest point is 874 meter and is named Goat Fell. The coordinates (latitude, longitude) of the island (center) for GPS are 55.57 (55°34'16.3884), -5.24 (-5°14'16.8036).The population is 4629 and the population density is thus on 10.72 inhabitants per square kilometer (compared Isle of Wight 364 inhabitants / km²).
