Description island BenbeculaThe inhabited fairly large island of Benbecula (local name Beinn nam Fadhla) is part of (the island group) Outer Hebrides and is located in the country of Great Britain , Western Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 79.7 km. The surface-area of the island is 73.6 km2 and is therefore 0.194 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Atlantic Ocean and the total coastal length is about 119.9 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 14 km by 8 km (maximum width). The island is North - South oriented. The highest point is 124 meter and is named Ruibheal. The coordinates (latitude, longitude) of the island (center) for GPS are 57.45 (57°26'42.1008), -7.31 (-7°18'46.5336).The population is 1219 and the population density is thus on 16.56 inhabitants per square kilometer (compared Isle of Wight 364 inhabitants / km²).
