Description island GotlandThe inhabited very large island of Gotland is part of (the island group) Gotland and is located in the country of Sweden, Northern Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 83.2 km. The surface-area of the island is 2989.4 km2 and is therefore 7.9 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Baltic Sea and the total coastal length is about 620.6 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 125 km by 55 km (maximum width). The island is South-southwest - North-northeast oriented. The highest point is 78 meter and is named Follingbohöjden.
