Description island Nisida KvsThe inhabited large island of Nisida Kvs (local name Κως ) is part of (the island group) Dodecanese and is located in the country of Greece, Southern Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 5 km. The nearest (main) land is Turkey and is not the country to which the island belongs. The surface-area of the island is 290.3 km2 and is therefore 0.764 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Aegean Sea and the total coastal length is about 116.9 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 40 km by 8 km (maximum width). The island is West-southwest - East-northeast oriented. The highest point is 846 meter and is named Dikeos.
