Description island LefkasThe inhabited large island of Lefkas (local name Λευκάδα) is part of (the island group) Ionian Islands and is located in the country of Greece, Southern Europe. The distance to the mainland is, quite close about 0.1 km. The surface-area of the island is 308.1 km2 and is therefore 0.811 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Ionian Sea and the total coastal length is about 123.2 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 35 km by 15 km (maximum width). The island is North - South oriented. The highest point is 1158 meter and is named Elati (Ελάτη). The coordinates (latitude, longitude) of the island (center) for GPS are 38.71 (38°42'28.9584), 20.65 (20°38'54.4884).The population is 23750 and the population density is thus on 67.00 inhabitants per square kilometer (compared Isle of Wight 364 inhabitants / km²).
