Description island Nisida SkiauosThe inhabited small island of Nisida Skiauos (local name Σκιάθος) is part of (the island group) Sporades and is located in the country of Greece, Southern Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 3.8 km. The surface-area of the island is 47.5 km2 and is therefore 0.125 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Aegean Sea and the total coastal length is about 42.5 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 11 km by 8 km (maximum width). The island is Southwest - Northeast oriented. The highest point is 433 meter and is named Stavros - Karafiltzanaka. The coordinates (latitude, longitude) of the island (center) for GPS are 39.17 (39°10'3.1872), 23.45 (23°27'9.6228).The population is 6160 and the population density is thus on 123.00 inhabitants per square kilometer (compared Isle of Wight 364 inhabitants / km²). The capital of the island is Skiathos - stad (located in the South-southeast of the island). Other places on the island are: Koukounaries, ?anemos, Kalyvia, Troulos. The island is located in the Center of the country Greece.
